Legal Writing Introduction
Procedures
INTRO:
In this lesson, you will come to see that when you attempt legal writing,
you must be brief and to the point. There is nothing worst than to get a 200
page document to try to muttle through. It is different when you are appealing
or filing a criminal complaint. You might have to be a little more detailed.
When you write a brief, take the surface meaning of that word and keep your
brief very "brief". Letters, affidavits, documents, and other types
of communication with government or courts must be short, to the point and
contain only necessary things. We will start by looking at the what, when
why where or hows of documents.
DEFINITION:
AFFIDAVIT- A statement written and sworn to in the presence of someone authorized
to administer an oath, such as a notary public.
